Music & Wine Tours in Lyon — Walk, Listen, Taste

Unique Tours in Lyon is a boutique tour operator led by licensed local guide Didac Trave Martos, focused on premium cultural and sensory experiences in Lyon.

  • A private music and wine walking tour in Lyon
  • Curated live soundtrack
  • Exclusive access to the oldest jazz club in Europe
  • Wine tasting at independent Croix-Rousse cellars
  • Led by Didac, licensed guide-conférencier and music researcher
  • 2.5–3 hours
  • Max 12 guests
  • From €90/person

Lyon has been shaping music for over a century — from silk workers' protest songs to Jean-Michel Jarre, from the oldest jazz club in Europe to the independent electronic scene of Croix-Rousse. This private walking tour connects the city's musical history to its streets, buildings, and wine culture through an experience you won't find in any guidebook.

Your guide is Didac, a licensed guide-conférencier, DJ, and music researcher with over 25 years in electronic, jazz, and underground music culture. He leads every tour personally, combining deep knowledge of Lyon's history with curated soundtracks played live during the walk.

Two experiences are available. Both follow the same principle — walking through Lyon while its music tells the story — but each takes you somewhere different.

Vinyl Record & Wine Tour in Lyon — From €150/person

The Vinyl Diggers tour follows the same adapted musical walk through Lyon, with the same curated soundtrack, stories, and wine tasting — but adds a dimension that transforms the experience for music lovers: you go digging for vinyl.

Didac takes you into Lyon's independent record shops, including Tiki Vinyl Store— specializing in local pop, rock, and folk pressings — and Unité Centrale, the reference point for electronic music in the city. These are working shops where Lyon's DJs and collectors find their records, not tourist stops.

At each shop, Didac makes a pre-selection based on your musical tastes — genres, artists, eras you love. You browse, pull records that catch your eye, and then listen to them on the shop's turntable before choosing. The goal is to walk out with a record that means something to you: a French pressing you've never seen, a Lyon artist you've just discovered, or a rare find you didn't know existed.

The vinyl is yours to take home — a physical souvenir with a story behind it, tied to a specific afternoon in a specific city.

Private Music & Wine Walking Tour in Lyon — From €90/person

Starting from Place de la Comédie, your route is tailored to your group's interests. You might explore the silk workers' quarter of Croix-Rousse, cross the Presqu'île's grand squares, or descend into the Renaissance streets of Vieux Lyon. The itinerary adapts — no two tours follow exactly the same path, and no two groups hear the same stories.

Lyon's musical history runs far deeper than most visitors imagine, and Didac draws from it depending on what your group responds to. A tour might follow the thread of the canuts — Lyon's silk workers — and the protest songs that emerged from their workshops on the slopes of Croix-Rousse. Another might trace how rock and electronic music took root in the same neighbourhood a century later, growing from the same spirit of independence.

You might hear how Lyon's printing industry shaped music distribution across France, or follow the story of Jean-Michel Jarre — born in Lyon and one of the most influential electronic musicians in history — through the streets where it started. Each tour draws from a different combination of these stories, depending on your group.

Along the way, Didac plays curated tracks through a portable speaker — songs by Lyon-born artists and pieces tied to the specific places you're passing through. The music isn't background: it's the key that opens each story.

One highlight is the Hot Jazz Club, Lyon's legendary jazz venue operating continuously since 1948 — the oldest jazz club in Europe. Access is exclusive to this tour. But the Jazz Club is one chapter among many. Depending on your route, you might also stop at a historic opera site, a former silk workshop, a courtyard where a musical movement was born, or a street corner that connects Lyon to a global sound you already know.

The tour ends at a wine bar on the slopes of Croix-Rousse. Didac works with two partner venues: Microsillon, with a classic tasting approach, and Satriale, a natural wine bar with vinyl on the turntable and winemakers who think like artists. Both are independent, local, and impossible to find on your own.

After the tour, you'll receive a link to the full curated playlists — the soundtrack of your walk through Lyon, to keep.
